OTC flea treatment failed. Is it safe to use Frontline or Advantage?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 55 lbs

Will it be safe to use Frontline or Advantage on my pet if the OTC treatments arent working can I use better treatment right away or should I wait a while? Its been a littke over 2 weeks now since I've put the OTC on him. Are there are OTC that work good? This isn't my dog and im watching him for my roommate and he is in jail. I have no job or transportation so it isn't easy for me to go anywhere wherever plus I don't have the money to take his dog to the vet.

Since it's been at least two weeks since Oreo last received a flea treatment it's fine to apply Frontline or Advantage to him now. Of the two, I recommend Advantage. The best flea treatments are the ones like Frontline or Advantage, I never recommend OTC ones because they are poor quality and do not work well. I hope this helps!
