Is it safe for my dog to sleep near a Himalayan salt lamp and lick it?

It's not safe in that LuLu could lick the salt lamp, and too much salt is toxic to dogs. If you want to use one in a room where she is sleeping, make sure it is placed up high where she cannot have access to it. I hope this helps.

I have himalayan salt lamps in my living room Can they be harmful to my dog if he doesn't injest or lick them?
Studies done on these lamps show that they really don't do much more than a normal lamp, so it's unlikely to harm you or your dog. There have also not been any reported problems with these lamps around pets. In-fact, the salt would even be safe if Doobie happened to lick it, but I don't recommend that. Essentially, this lamp is just as safe as any other lamp. I hope that helps and all is well with Doobie.

Are salt lamps ok to have around birds?
That is a great question. As far as I am aware the actual salt lamp should not be harmful to birds. However birds are very sensitive to air quality or particles in the air so I would watch the lamp closely to make sure the lamp does not break and cause abnormal fumes. hope that helps

We use a red heating lamp at times for our poodle. Is it okay?
That should be fine for Johnny as long as he has an area to get away from the heating lamp if he gets hot. For any pet that uses a heating area, they need to have the ability to get away from the heat source to make sure they do not overheat. Otherwise make sure the lamp is high enough that he is not in danger of touching it and getting burned by accident. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions!

Is salt n sugar are safe in little amount
Neither of these should be given in any significant quantity. In some dog foods, there will be small amounts of sugars and salts. However, any excessive amount of either of these can result in illnesses. Salt in large amounts is especially dangerous, as this can result in kidney issues that can be difficult to resolve.

My 20ish lb dog ate some salt from an open packet on the sidewalk during our walk. Is this cause for concern?
No she/he should be fine if it was just salt. It takes a lot of salt ingestion to cause any immediate concerns in pets (salt intoxication). So if it was only a small amount you don't have anything to worry about. Just make sure to offer her/him some water and access to water at all times, so if she/he needs to they can rebalance their body by diluting out the salt. Also I would refrain from giving him/her any people foods that are high in salt for the next 24 hrs, only regular dog food. If by chance your pet did ingest a large amount of salt then watch out for signs of trouble which include ataxia (drunken walk), panting, mental dullness, and vomiting. If seen then it is best to take him/her to your vet immediately for treatment.

Hi! I was wondering... is it safe to use essential oils on or around my dog? If so, which ones are best?
I would avoid using essential oils directly on your dog as it could cause skin irritation, or be toxic, depending on the oil. If you use diffusers in your home, making sure Hudson is in a well-ventilated area away from it can help prevent inhalation that could cause irritation or illness.

my mom thinks that my dog loki may have ate a tiny bit of winter rock salt that got brought in by shoes. since then hes been whining. ive put him outside a couple times to see if maybe he needed to get sick but nothing. what do i do?
It's unlikely that a tiny bit of rock salt will affect a dog as big as Loki significantly, however salt poisoning can definitely be a big problem in dogs, and the only way to know for sure is to test the blood levels of sodium to see if they are significantly elevated. If hypernatremia (elevated sodium) is the problem, dogs need aggressive intravenous fluid therapy in order to recover, so I would urge you to get this checked right away if you do suspect salt poisoning.

Hi and thanks for posting. While it is possible to become electrocuted from tampering with electronic devices, cords, etc, just licking the charger is probably not enough to cause an electrical shock. Usually patients that have been electrocuted exhibit sudden behavioral changes and may even have trouble breathing or exhibit burns on their mouth from chewing on cords or other areas of their body. Unless Rocky is experiencing sudden changes in behavior, breathing, etc, I don't think a lick on the Mac charger is cause for alarm.

Hi my dog ate two 50p sized pieces of cold smoked salmon I’ve read online this could be dangerous should I be worried?
Salmon is not toxic per se' but can, if not stored properly, carry some dangerous bacterial contaminations. There should not be anything to be worried about, especially if that salmon Luna ingested was stored properly and was for human consumption.

Is it safe to diffuse peppermint and lavender essential oils around my dog? I like to use them for my own aroma therapy but want to make sure they are safe for him as well.
Peppermint essential oil is toxic to dogs, so do not use that. As for lavender, while it isn't toxic, dogs can have negative or allergic reactions to it, so use only small amounts initially. If you have a cat, do not use any essential oils as many are highly toxic to cats. I hope this helps!
