My dog has a new bump in her eye corner. Should I be worried?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Staffordshire Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 63 lbs

About an hour ago I noticed this bump, growth, or whatever in the right corner of my girls eye. I plan on taking her to the vet when I have the money. But, can you tell what it is and should I be worried? Also, if you know what it is, what will have to happen?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and have a good day!

There are several different types of masses this could be. I would have you vet peak at it just since it is new to ensure it is benign and to ensure it isn’t close enough to bother the eye. I hope this helps!
