My 2-month-old kitten vomited after illness. Should I change his food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 20 days old | 3.748 lbs

I bought this male 2 month old cat a week ago.He was suffering from some infection due to which he stopped eating . He received proper vet care and treatment for it and was ok now. He is playing and eating normally but he vomited a brown coloured liquid and then a transparent liquid today. Is he alright ? He feeds on boiled chicken and a small amount of cat food . Please suggest something. Should I change his diet? Also is he a pure Persian cat or a mix breed any idea?

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Causes of vomiting in kittens are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, ate something causing a blockage, food allergy/intolerance, hairballs or reaction to a new treat/food or table scraps. If Mau is still eating and active I would try to get him on 100% kitten food. Some cats vomit more on canned and vice versa. So have both available. Chicken isn't a balanced diet for a cat. You can also try some laxatone in case he has hairballs. If he stops eating or continues to vomit I would have him rechecked. Your pictures are adorable and from what I can tell Mau is likely pure bred Persian! http://pet-supplies.drsfostersmith.com/search?w=laxatone%20for%20cats
