Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 11 years and 4 months old | 96 lbs

My 10 year old putbull had a small lump on his tail next to his anus, that got considerably larger in about 48 hours and started to bleed... Ive enclosed a picture of what it looks like too..may even have puss coming out of it.. Any idea what this is or how to take care of it? Hopefully the photos attached this time

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The pictures have attached this time. Oh my goodness! This mass is very large and looks very infected. Like I had mentioned previously, it may be an anal sac abscess or may also be a cancerous tumor. Marley really should be seen by a veterinarian very soon to have this evaluated and treated. He will most likely need to be on antibiotics as well. There are really no home treatments for this. Please take Marley to see his veterinarian soon!
