Why is my senior spayed dog peeing in her bed at night? What can I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | spayed | 6 years and 1 month old | 15 lbs

Hello! My dog macy turned 7 as of April and we adopted her from a pound she recently has been abused from her previous owner.... Macy tends to pee in her bed in the middle of the night is there any way to stop this or anything i need to be concerned about? we HAVE tried dog pads and didnt go so well

What a cutie she is! If she is doing this in her sleep the the most common cause would be a weakness of the sphincter that stops the bladder from emptying. This is a common issue in spayed female dogs and can often be treated with medication. I would make an appointment for your vet to examine her and make sure she doesn't have a urinary tract infection, and to discuss if they think she would benefit from a medication trial for sphincter mechanism incontinence aka spay incontinence.
