My puppy has eye boogers, eyes shut, and chin peeling. Is it serious?

Hello there!My mom pup has been sick lately because she's been getting EYE boogers every seconds and whenever she goes to sleep its competely shut and her chin skin is peeling off and we believe is because she ate a leaf not to sure my mom been getting a cup of water and a tea bag and cloth to clean her eye boogers is this a serious problem for the pup? Let me know. Thank you.

Your puppy may have an allergic or an infectious conjunctivitis. Discharge in the eye like this could also be caused from a scratch on the surface of the eye (a corneal ulcer). The best course of action would be to take your puppy to the veterinarian to have the eyes checked out. If it has been going on for several days with no resolution it is unlikely that the problem will get better on its own. Your puppy will probably need an antibiotic ointment and possibly one with the steroid in it to help the inflammation and infection. Until you can get to the vet continue cleaning a few times every day to prevent the eyes from becoming matted shut. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
