Unspayed puppy discharge after peeing: Is it heat or something else?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 7 months and 8 days old | 40 lbs

I noticed mucus like discharge after Oreo peed. I read a few articles that mentioned it could happen if she was about to go into heat. She's not spayed. Shes around 6-7 months old and is a pit-lab mix. Should I be concerned? Or is she just about to hit her cycle. She doesnt seem to be in any sort of pain at all. Its a white-yellow color and it just hangs from her girl parts, but she immediately licks it off. Thank you for your help.

This could be a few different things. This could indicate a urinary tract infection, a vaginitis, or an upcoming heat cycle. I would watch her closely. If she start squatting to pee a lot, having accidents, lickingher vulva excessively or the discharge is green, I would ha e your vet take a look at her to ensure she doesn’t need any meds. I hope this helps!
