My dog ate plastic poop bag tube, acting normal. Should I go to ER?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 5 lbs

I caught my dog chewing on the black plastic tube from his poop bags. He definitely swallowed some little pieces. He’s acting normal but I’m worried he’ll have trouble digesting. Should I go to animal ER?

Dogs will eat the dumbest things sometimes! If he's eaten only little pieces of it, likely they will pass without problem. Little bits of things typically pass in the feces within a couple of days, and sometimes even big things will pass. Should you want to be 100% safe, yes you can take Charlie into the ER vet to have vomiting induced, which would guarantee no problems will occur. Otherwise in this case, I think it's fine to wait and watch. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
