Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 8 months and 21 days old | 10 lbs
My young female Shih tzu had an accidental mating (tie) 2 days ago. Since then, she still shows interest in male dogs. Do I assume from this behavior, that the mating was unsuccessful? If she were in very early pregnancy, wouldn't she be rejecting males?

No, you can't assume that just because Kenzi is still interested in male dogs means that the mating was unsuccessful. Female dogs will continue to mate during their heat cycle, and you won't know if the mating was successful or not until at least three weeks after their mating. She will stop mating when her heat is over. I would wait at least three to four weeks, and then take her into the vet. The vet can do a blood test or use an ultrasound to see if she is pregnant or not. Best of luck.
