My dog is vomiting and disoriented after flea/tick meds. Vet needed?

Hey there, about four days ago i applied flee/tick cream to the back of my dogs neck, and as of two days ago she has been vomiting liquid, not eating or drinking anything, extremely tired and disoriented and just not herself. wondering if it’s something she ate and will pass or if i should take her to a vet immediately?

I would take Chappie into a vet immediately. It's very concerning that she isn't eating or drinking at all, and with the vomiting, she will quickly become dehydrated. These combination of symptoms is not something I would wait to see if it passes, I feel she needs veterinarian care now. Best of luck.

My chihuahua is urinating or pooping blood the day she began medication for fleas. Not eating or drinking.
It sounds as Chloe is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Oh my. It sounds like your pet may be suffering from a tick borne septic arthritis or something similar. Ticks can cause all sorts of internal problems for pets, including damaging the joints and causing low grade fevers and nausea. I would highly advise getting your pets seen by your local vet right away for much needed antibiotics and blood testing to confirm that tick borne disease is present. This will help let us know what other treatments they need to hopefully get better. I would take them in as soon as possible and also get them on a high quality flea/tick preventative such as Simparica, Firstshield, Nexgard or Bravecto. Best of luck with your pets. Hello. It sounds like Charlie was given Capstar & Bravecto. However, if they were administered on the 28th, the Capstar was out of his system after 24 hours. Vomiting & loss of appetite are the 2 most common signs of the Bravecto, but it is still an extremely safe medication. So I am not sure we can blame it on the flea medications after this much time. If the vomiting has just started, withhold all food for at least 8-12 hours, & only allow small amounts of water, preferably as ice cubes. Restart food using 25% cooked chicken & 75% white rice when the vomiting has stopped. Give very small meals frequently rather than 1 or 2 big meals. If Charley seems comfortable, transition back to his regular diet after about 1 day or so. If the vomiting continues, or he shows any signs of fever, belly pain or diarrhea please see your veterinarian. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

My puppy is not himself after I gave him flea and tick medication. He is really sleepy and will not eat or drink much help?
He could be having an adverse reaction to the flea/tick medication. Give him a bath immediately! Then contact your local vet to have him examined and treated for an acute allergic reaction. The most important thing though is to wash off the product. Using dawn dish detergent works best to strip the product off. There is a chance that he has absorbed a good bit of the medication already, but this will help prevent further absorption and subsequent illness. Most adverse reactions to flea/tick products do well with time (minimum 12 hrs to see improvement). I hope your puppy Harley recovers soon!

Hi there. Coco really needs to be hospitalized for this condition as soon as possible. If she has shown no improvement she may be having a delayed reaction to the tick bite (or something else) and need a course of steroids, etc along with her antibiotics and iv fluids. If she cannot hold down food, low glucose is a huge worry with a puppy this small as well and can lead to seizures, lethargy, etc. she is also anemic-which your doctor has probably informed you. It may be that she ends up needing a blood transfusion. I hope this helps and she gets help quickly. My best to you both.

I am very sorry to hear about Flower. It definitely sounds like she should be seen by a vet as soon as possible. It sounds like she is experiencing lethargy, vomiting, and inappetance. Unfortunately there isn't any medication over the counter we can recommend for vomiting dogs, as they will just vomit it back up! Your vet may want to take an x-ray to check for possible foreign objects, enlarged organs or tumors (much less likely in young dogs). They may also want to test her for parvovirus since she is young, especially if she hadn't had all her vaccinations yet. Bloodwork may also be recommended to check for things like pancreatitis. Depending on what they find, they may treat her with IV fluids, injectable medicine to help settle her stomach, or surgery if it turns out she ate an object and it is stuck in her digestive tract.

I am sorry to hear that Peanut is feeling so cruddy To be honest, that kind of reaction from flea / tick medication starting 24-36 hours after application would not be very typical. Usually signs of illness would start pretty shortly after. The only reason it could be delayed is it Peanut waited awhile and then managed to lick the stuff off his fur. Depending on the type of drug that was used, some have antidotes while others are just treated supportively. There are no antibiotics that are used to help with this kind of issue, unless the vet believes that one might assist with inflammation or prevent a secondary infection. Based on the clinical signs you have described, the best medication that the vet could prescribe would be something to nausea, diarrhea, and acid production. In terms of diagnostics I would run if you came into my office with these symptoms, I would definitely recommend starting with some baseline blood work and potentially some x-rays to rule out a possible f

I would take Cyfer into the vet immediately, as it sounds like he is suffering from a tick borne illness. He needs medical attention right away, and the vet can use blood tests to diagnose if he's suffering from a tick borne illness and treat him accordingly.

It could be he is experiencing an abnormal reaction to the flea medication, but it could also be he has a severe illness like kidney disease, GI illness, liver disease, heart disease, or even cancer causing his symptoms. He sounds extremely sick, and I do not think you should wait until tomorrow to take him into a vet. You need to take him into an ER vet immediately. Best of luck.
