Can I safely combine Simparica and K9 Advantix for my dog's fleas?

Is it safe for me to use simparica oral flea medication and k9 advantix I topical flea medication together?

Generally, we at Pet Coach recommend using one flea and tick medication. I would recommend only using the K9 advantix on Pistol. It kills fleas, repels fleas, kills flea egg and larvae, kills ticks, repels ticks, and kills and/or repels mosquitoes. Simparica only kills fleas and ticks. You will get everything you need for Pistol's protection with the K9 advantix. I hope this helps!

It is ok to give trifexis and simparica together (staggered by 2 weeks is great). Both of those medications will protect against fleas so there is some overlap with that. If you want to streamline how many medications you are giving Dakota monthly, Another option would be to use sentinel or interceptor instead of the trifexis and give with that with simparica monthly. These products contain the same heart worm preventative (milbemycin) as trifexis but do not contain any medication to kill adult fleas. (Trifexis contains both the milbemycin for heart worm prevention and Spinosad for fleas). That way you would be giving one medication for heart worm prevention (sentinel or interceptor ) and one for flea and tick prevention (simparica). Another option is to continue trifexis and add in a tick collar (such as the preventic collar or the seresto collar). I know there are so many products and options it is confusing ! Hi, my dog has just been subscribed Simparica. I see this only kills adult fleas once he has been bitten by them, is therefore possible to also use Advantix in his coat as that kills all life stages of the flea. My dog does suffer from flea allergie
They are each labeled for once a month so it is safe and will be more effective if you alternate them every 2 weeks instead of using them at the same time each month. make sure the environment stays treated also to minimize what gets on him.

Can I use a tick repellent along with advantix? Can you recommend a product
I recommend a product that kills both fleas and ticks instead of using two products. There are a number of products that can't be used together safely, which is why it's best to use just one. I recommend giving Addie either Frontline Plus or Nexgard. I hope this helps!

I have a toy poodle that weighs 6.5 lbs. She is inside. Only goes out to potty. she has gotten fleas. I just gave her the 4th capstar pill over the last month. Is it safe to also use k9 advantix topical treatment on her? If so how long should I wait?
You can use both products on the same day so it is fine to start the Advantix at any time. There are better products that Advantix. Top products for dogs are oral products such as Simparica and Nexgard. Top products for cats are topicals such as Revolution and Cheristan. There is also an oral product called Comfortis that both dogs and cats can take. You will need to switch all the pets over to a good flea product. Make sure to discuss these products with your veterinarian first. These products are generally safe for all pets but there are some conditions which are contraindicated for the oral products. Cleaning up and treating the house and yard will also help but it will not clear all the fleas. The main control is making sure the pets are on good products. This is what will ultimately stop the infestation. Also remember every female fleas lays about 50 eggs a day and it could take up to 6 months before the eggs hatch. I have 2 dogs and recently acquired a vacation home in the Berkshire mountains. The first 2 days and i found about 15 ticks on them. That is without taking them into the woods, only on walks on the street letting them go 2 feet from the pavement.
The active ingredient in Simparica is sarolaner. At this time, there are no known drug interactions reported with sarolaner. I would therefore use a spot on treatment for fleas and ticks like Frontline or K9 Advantix II. I hope this helps!

I applied Bravecto on my lab mix on August 14 and it is supposed to last for 12 weeks. We moved and are finding that mosquitoes are terrible where we now live. On Oct 14, I would like to apply K9 Advantix II because it helps to repel mosquitoes too.
Bravecto and Advantix contain different drugs that work in different ways - it is safe to give the two together. You should also be sure that Zeke is on a heartworm preventative - this is the main disease in dogs that is spread through mosquitoes.

I just gave my 9 month pit bull puppy simperica. It’s been working but we still find ticks on her. Can I use Seresto collar also? I called Simperica and they said yes but looking for a second opinion.
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! In order to kill the ticks with Simparica, the tick has to but the dog and they will die with in a day. If you are finding engorged ticks then the product isn't working and you should stop using it. If you are finding attached dead or slowly moving neurologic ticks then they are dead or dying from the Simparica. If you feel you need the Seresto Collar I would just use that and stop the Simparica. The collar repels and the tick doesn't have to attack to be killed. But yes the 2 can be used together but I see no point if you think the Simparica isn't working, why waste your money on 2 products? Good luck!

Can we use revolution and k9 advantix together? My dog gets sick from any heart worm treatment by mouth but I don't think she is getting good flea control with revolution. I would rather not use a collar.
Hi yes you can use both treatments on Daphne but i suggest separating the application by two weeks. You can also consider using a product like Proheart6 - an injectable heartworm prevention given at the vet hospital that lasts for 6mths. I find that revolution works well for fleas, but doesn't cover all types of ticks. Hope this helps!

Is it ok to give jasper Simparica and interceptor brown together?
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Yes, Simparica and Interceptor can be given together at the same time. BUT if this is the first time giving one or both of the drugs then I would give one at a time 2 days apart in case one causes a problem. Then if there are no issues give them together next month.
