My 8-week-old kitten has a red, inflamed anus. Should I see a vet?

My 8 week old kitten has a red and inflamed anus. How do I know when and if it's serious enough to take to a vet? I'm concerned because I'm going on vacation in two days and a friend is taking care of her. She's been eating a mix of both wet and dry food. I got her from a breeder about a week ago and she had not had wet food before then. I got recommended wet food by the pet store and have been feeding it to her a couple times a day to supplement the dry kibbles I leave out.

Because Sombra hasn't had wet food before, it could be this causing her red and swollen anus. But it could also be due to something else like intestinal worms. Based on the picture, I think having her seen by a vet before you leave is the best idea. You don't want it to get worse while you are gone, so having her seen before you leave will give you peace of mind on your trip. Call the vet today to make an appointment. Best of luck, I hope this helps.
