OK. I have a puppy that is 10 weeks old and has already had 3 parvo shots because the breeder...i guess, is paranoid. Her last shot was on 4/12. so my question is, what do i do now? I think the breeder is wrong to do it every two weeks...so should I wait til 5/12? I don't want her to have the chance to catch it but I dont want to overvaccinate her. or undervaccinate her. or vaccinate her on a schedule that could harm her.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Malika. Puppies in high risk situations can actually be vaccinated every 2 weeks, but it is generally safe to give the vaccine every 3-4 weeks. The vaccines need to be continued until 16-18 weeks of age as this is when the antibodies from the mom wear off. It is important to start her other vaccines as well. I hope this information helps!

The parvovirus combination vaccine is typically given every 2-4 weeks until a puppy reaches 16-20 weeks of age. The reason for waiting two weeks in between vaccines is so the immune system has time to mount a full response to the vaccine. Each vaccine carries some risks (like vaccine reactions) and stimulates the immune system but I think the risk would be relatively low if the vaccines were given sooner than two weeks. If you are not sure whether or not she had a vaccine two weeks ago I agree that in most cases it would probably be safer to give another vaccine and risk the small increase in potential side effects rather than delay vaccination and risk contracting a serious disease.
