How much food should I feed my mixed breed dog to avoid overfeeding?

Drax is so handsome! I would feed him according to the instructions on his bag of food. Each brand of dog food has a differently daily allotment required, and this will be found on the bag. Take the daily allotment, and divide it into two equal portions for him to fed once in the morning and once in the evening. Best of luck.

Rosco is a very handsome boy! Dog food is fine only for him, and feed him according to the instructions on his bag of food. That will tell you how much to feed him daily. He doesn't need added protein, and I would feed him twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. From the pictures, he looks to be healthy. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Feeding twice daily is fine as long as Caster is receiving his recommend amount of calories per day. I recommend the majority of his diet consists of the Royal Canin as that has the proper balance of vitamins and minerals for a growing dog and the human diet does not. The Royal Canin should have a place on the label for recommended feeding amounts for his age and weight. Kisses to Caster!

I am unsure of how much food I should be feeding my dog. He's about 44lbs and I'm currently giving him 2 cups a day. That doesn't seem like enough to me but I don't want to over feed him either. What is the appropriate amount for a 44lb puppy?
Great question! Each food has a different daily allotment and no two foods are the same, so to know how much to feed Moose, I would check the label on his bag of food. That will tell you how much he should be getting daily, and then I would divide it into two equal portions for him to eat. I hope this helps :-)

There are number of great, high quality foods available, all of which are great choices. I like Science Diet and Royal Canin. Look for puppy food until she's 12 months old, then switch her to adult food. As for amount, go off the package recommendations, though you may find she needs less. For more specific recommendations for how much to feed her, talk to your veterinarian, as your vet can advise you based on her current body condition (underweight, ideal weight, overweight) and size. Congrats on your new dog, Paps is very handsome! He should be fed twice a day, and I would feed him according to the instructions on the food package. Divide the recommended daily allotment into two equal servings, and feed him morning and evening. Now if that's what you are doing and he seems very hungry, then divide the daily allotment into three portions and feed him morning, noon, and evening. Be sure to feed him a high quality dog food brand, as those will have the best ingredients to help keep him full and satisfied. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this helps, enjoy your handsome boy :-)

Although its a little hard to tell from the photo both of your pups look to be lean with good muscle mass. To assess body condition what you want to look for are a waist behind the ribs when viewed from above, and that you can feel but not see the spine and ribs. Young active dogs are certainly apt to be a bit leaner. You could certainly consider a diet for active large breed dogs, especially for the Dane mix. To figure out how much to feed you need to know two things. First, you need to find out how many calories are in a cup of your current food. This is sometimes written on the bag or you can go online to the foods website and typically find it. It would be written kcal/cup for dry or kcal/can for canned. Second, you need to figure out what the energy requirements for your dogs are. This will be different for different weights of dogs and for dogs with different lifestyles.
