Can I give my dog any joint health tablets? Also, how often do they need to go to the vet?

Great questions! Yes, you can give Grizz joint health tablets. I recommend Cosequin, it's an excellent joint supplement for dogs. He should see the vet at least yearly for a health check, and to receive vaccines as needed. Always take him into the vet when he's sick so he can be treated promptly. Cosequin is an excellent joint supplement to help dogs with joint problems. If Midnight is experiencing pain, then I would make an appointment with his vet to discuss putting him on pain medications. I hope this helps!

This appears to be a good supplement. Glucosamine and fish oils are beneficial in many dogs that may be prone to developing arthritis or other bony disorders as they get older. However, scientific data on these types of supplements is lacking. Similar to humans, they might help and don't hurt anything. If you want to give them to Jesse, that is fine, but I do not routinely recommend these types of supplements in young-ish dogs.

I was just curious since my dog is a “senior” dog now, if he should start taking any supplements for his overall health, bones, etc.? If so, would I be able to just purchase at the store or should I consult with his vet first.
Hello, Prince may indeed benefit from joint supplements at minimum. However, any supplements that you will be offering to Prince would be most adequate if recommended by your veterinarian since they will know Prince's medical history and requirements the best. Once he has undergone an evaluation, then your veterinarian may recommend supplements either from their office or some that you may obtain over the counter at a supplement store. Please schedule a wellness exam with your primary care veterinarian and discuss if Prince would benefit from supplements. Hope this helps and best of luck.

When I have patients with arthritis or starting arthritis I always recommend starting a glucosamine supplement. This can be bought over the counter or online. A great animal one is Cosequin. What are good joint supplements for dogs?
Dasuquin with MSM and Cosequin DS Plus MSM (both by Nutramax Labs) are excellent products. I prefer these because it is the same company that makes the human product, Cosamin, and one of the few companies that submits its products for outside testing to verify ingredients. The GlycoFlex line of products would also be one to consider. These are my own personal recommendations.

Hello again! If you are already giving a joint supplement and fish oil, do not give Chloe this additional supplement. Too much fish oil isn't good for her. I'd give the joint tablet and fish oil only. Cosequin is important for her to have for her joint health, and Nordic naturals fish oil is a good brand.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is a great question! I think the ones that are specifically designed for dogs are way more complete. I would recommend you consider Cosequin or Dasuquin as both cover all the joint supplements such as glucosamine and chondroitin that are great for joint health. Both of these are over the counter. You are usually able to see a marked improvement within weeks to a few months. Best of luck!

Hello I want to know if there is any vitamins that I can give to my adult dogs for their overall health? Or is it even necessary? they go from 3 to 7 years old I want them to keep being healthy and keep living a good life and maybe prevent diseases.
As long as your dogs are getting a high quality dog food, you do not need to give them any vitamins. Their food will provide all the vitamins they need. You can give them glucosamine, which is a dietary supplement that helps with joint health. Typically it's given as 20 mg/lb of body weight, and you can find canine glucosamine tablets at the pet store. One of the most important things to do is have yearly vet health checks for them to make sure everything is ok. Be sure to keep up to date with their vaccines, flea treatment, deworming treatments, and heartworm treatments. Also have regular dental cleanings done with the vet. Just like humans, dogs need their teeth cleaned, and severe dental disease can lead to other problems such as liver abscesses and endocarditis from bacteria traveling from the mouth via the bloodstream.
