Can my dog have birthday cake and ice cream for his first birthday?

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 7 months and 19 days old

I want to throw my dog a birthday party and i found a cake for dogs recipe and ice cream for dogs. Should i give him both cake and ice cream? Not a lot but just so he can have a bit of each or would that be to much on his stomach? He’ll be turning 1 for his birthday.

I love that you want to throw Gizmo a birthday party! He's such a handsome boy, and he deserves that party. If you give a little of both, that would be fine but don't give him large amounts of each item. Also be sure to take lots of pictures, especially with a party hat on :-)

Happy birthday Zeke! Some dogs can handle small infrequent amounts of human food without any problems. However, others are more sensitive. Gastrointestinal upset and/or pancreatitis can result from human food ingestion. There is no way to predict if he will have an issue or not. A very small amount is less likely to cause a problem. Happy Birrthday Queen! Make sure that she only has a small serving of cake or treats. We don't want her sick on her birthday. No bones, fat or grease should be used and minimal to no sugar. I found this recipe online that should be acceptable just make sure she doesn't eat the whole thing! Foods that she isn't used to can give her diarrhea or worse, potentially pancreatitis. Is it okay to feed my dog table food?
It is not recommended to feed Gizmo table scraps. When feeding a dog table scraps they can develop intestinal issues, pancreatitis or even more prone to obesity. I recommend sticking with one type of puppy food until Gizmo is a year old. Once he is a year old I would recommend gradually transitioning him to an adult food. If you really wanted to do a homecooked diet for Gizmo then I would recommend a veterinary nutritionist at petdiets.com where they can formulate a diet that has all the nutrients Gizmo needs. Hi Thanos is turning 1 next week and I would like to sing him happy birthday and give him a cupcake...is it ok to give him a regular cupcake that u buy at a bakery or does it have to have certain ingredients??
Happy birthday to Thanos! A regular cupcake at a bakery will not be safe for him, you will need to get one special for dogs. There are recipes online for dog safe cupcakes, so you can make one of those, or see if there is someone in your area who bakes dog cakes. I love your idea, I did it with my Chow Chow when she turned one. There was a lady in my area who made cakes for dogs, and I bought her one, and invited her dog friends (and their owners) over for a party lol. I hope this helps!

Can dogs eat cheddar cheese, vanilla ice cream, 1% milk?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Dogs typically do not have a complete intolerance to dairy, but as it is not a mainstay of their dietary needs, it can cause GI upset. I typically do not recommend giving dogs straight milk, and lower sugar ice creams can have artificial sugars (such as xylitol) which are toxic to dogs. Regular ice cream or cheese can be fine in small amounts but it based on each individual animal. If you want to give your dog anything dairy as a small treat, only start with one thing in very small amounts to see how Brody tolerates it and ensure he doesn't develop any vomiting/diarrhea.

Gizmo is so cute!! Puppies should not be given as much food as they want, they should be given a daily allotment that is written on their bag of food. I would take his daily allotment and divide it into two equal portions for him to be fed once in the morning and once in the evening. This is the best way to feed him. Thank you for relying Boop by Petco today to ask if you can give your dog ice cream cone. I can't say that it's the best idea for Jovie, but I would be lying if I said I haven't give my dog a small amount of [ice cream](https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/ice-cream/) from time to time. You might expect some diarrhea from ice cream, but that is likely the worst consequence she may have. Beagles have tough tummies in my experience since they tend to eat just about everything. Minor upset can typically be managed at home with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Transition slowly to the regular diet afterwards.

I wasn't aware but my niece was eating cookie and cream ice cream and she left it on the coach I notice chewy walk out of the front room if he did eat the ice cream will it harm and if so what are the signs I should look for it wasn't a big bowl so
I think Chewy had himself a snack! No it should not cause any harm. If he has a really sensitive gut, it might make some diarrhea for a day. But I doubt even that is going to happen. Since ice cream has a lot of sugar, some of his gut bacteria might have a field day with gas production......sooooo that may be a temporary side effect.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. speaking from experience, years ago with my dog we made him a peanut butter carrot doggie cake for his 13th birthday. A simple Google search will give you multiple recipes to make this type of cake. The ingredients are safe and my dog loved the taste. Ingredients consists of peanut butter, carrots, vegetable oil, honey, whole wheat flour and egg. Obviously avoid things like chocolate, artificial sweeteners and lots of added sugar. I hope this helps! I hope your dog enjoys this cake as much as mine did!

It could be the cake, especially if she has never had all those ingredients at once or in the amounts that she had eaten last night. Unfortunately, it could also be unrelated. The lip licking and grass eating could indicate she is feeling nauseous.
