My pregnant cat is bleeding and licking. Is she having a miscarriage?

my cat Precious is maybe 4weeks pregnant and she is growling and licking her private a lot. She just isnt acting right. She is also bleeding a little on her private. Could she be having a miscarriage

Yes, it is possible that Precious could be having a miscarriage. It could also be she has an infection causing her to lick there a lot. It isn't normal for a cat to bleed during a pregnancy, and this is something that needs to be checked out by a vet. I'd advise you to take her into a vet now. Best of luck.

    I do think Precious needs to be seen by a vet as soon as possible, as that discharge isn't normal and it's concerning she is in pain. It could be that she isn't pregnant and she is suffering from a pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. This certainly would be a possibly if you haven't confirmed with your vet that she is pregnant. I would take her into an ER vet clinic. If there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.

I'm so sorry that Preciosa is experiencing a miscarriage! Given that she is weak and lethargic, I would have her seen by a vet immediately. She needs veterinary attention to prevent hemorrhage or infection that can result if tissue remains in the uterus.

Poor Cinnamon. Unfortunately without seeing her in person, it is impossible to say for sure what could be the cause for the blood. It could be a urinary tract infection, a uterine infection, colitis (blood from anus), or even a miscarriage. I have see straight blood come from all of these conditions. I would strongly recommend have your vet take a look at her to try and figure out what could be causing the blood. Your vet may be able to determine whether or not she is pregnant and also determine the cause of the blood and get her started on the proper (and safe) meds to help her feel better. If she is having a miscarriage and the fetuses die but she doesn't expel of them, this could cause her to become really sick if left untreated. I hope this helps and you are able to figure out where the blood is coming from.

My cat is pregnant..... Nearly 2 months, but she has started bleeding slightly from her vaginal area for the past 2 days.......
She is close to having her kittens, however bleeding is not normal. Are you sure it is normal blood? Or is it watery pinkish liquid. If it is the latter, then she may be starting with birth. If it is real blood please take her to an emergency veterinarian right away as she may either have a miscarriage, or may have problems having her kittens and needs help.

This amount of hemorrhage is not normal for a pregnant cat. I would recommend taking her to the vet to be evaluated as soon as possible. I would recomend that you have Ebony checked out by a vet. Either if she had the kitten too early or she was at-term, any other kittens should also be born at the same time. If she doesn't have the other kittens she is at risk of getting very sick. A vet will do an examination and likely an x-ray to see if there are other kittens pregnant. They will be able to tell you if she can have the others on her own or if she needs a c-section.

The bleeding is definitely not normal. I think you should take her to a vet tomorrow for sure. If she starts to act sick at all tonight - not eating, very lethargic, pushing like she is trying to give birth but nothing is coming out, etc then she needs to see a vet tonight.

There are several possibilities: She had a miscarriage and the kittens were dead and she cleaned up, ie ate them. Or she had them and hid them. You will know soon, when she disappears once in a while....you may need to follow her secretly to find the babies. third possibilities is that the babies had some defects and she ate them. She will have a discharge for about a week , which should be odorless. If she gets lethargic, stops eating or if the discharge gets smelly she will need to be examined by a vet.

Hi there. In a scenario involving blood like this the best thing to do would be to take Booboo in to your local vet for an ultrasound or x rays. They can help determine pregnancy and they can help you find the source of the bleeding and potentially stop it. Hope this helps!

Hi there! Don't panic--if you don't have access to a vet you don't have alot of options. Cats don't often have problems birthing. I am guessing that it is possible she is actually further along than you think in her pregnancy and is going into labor right now. I'd make her a nice nest somewhere quiet, like in a closet, with access to food and water, and leave her alone so you aren't making her anxious. You can check on her in an hour or so and maybe you'll have kittens!
