Can my chow chow puppy walk outside and play safely on the floor?

Can I walk my chow chow puppy (date of birth is feb 3, 2018) already? And can I put it already on the floor for a few minutes? The breeder advised me not to put the puppy on the floor until it is 6-month old.

It's fine to put JJ on the floor, but I would hold off on walks in public until he is fully vaccinated. He will need three series of the DHPPi (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza) combination shot each given four weeks apart, and two series of the rabies vaccine also each given four weeks apart in order to fully vaccinated. If you take him out into public without being vaccinated, he can get these serious and deadly diseases. Make an appointment with your vet to start these vaccines. Best of luck.

Most puppies will need a series of 3-4 combo vaccines along with any optional vaccines depending on you and your puppy's activities/the area you live in. A rabies vaccine is also needed around 6 months of age. Vaccines then need to be repeated every 1-3 years depending on your vet's vaccination protocol and type given. It is a good idea to schedule a wellness check with your vet to get June finished with her vaccines and any other needed treatments. Once her series of vaccines is done, she should be OK to go for walks with veterinary approval.

Yes, it should be safe to walk her outside. She should be protected if she has had 3 DHPP vaccines and up to date on her other vaccines. It is always a good idea to keep her away from sick or unvaccinated dogs.

Can I get a walk from my dog in public when he completed his vaccine?
A dog is considered fully vaccinated after receiving a distemper/parvovirus vaccine every 3-4 weeks until at least 16 weeks of age and a rabies vaccine (dependent upon location). About 2 weeks after the last vaccine, your dog should have developed an appropriate immune response and protective effect from the vaccines, so at that time he would be able to walk in public.

My pup just got his first shot of DHPPL, I was told by the breeder to not take him out until then, infact he told me not to take him out until all his vaccines were done, but I wanted to get an second opinion. Can I take him out for short walks?
You can take your pup out for play and walks in your own back yard. Do not take him to areas where other dogs romp or walk as he is not at all protected against any of the viruses we vaccinate against. He will need two more courses of vaccines before you can take him outside your house and yard.

Yes, that is correct is it a bad idea to be taking Lou for walks when he isn't fully vaccinated. Parvovirus is a very contagious disease and can live in the environment, so he could potentially contract that just on these walks. Contact with vaccinated dogs is fine, but you need to be absolutely sure they are fully vaccinated or he risks getting deadly diseases like parvo and distemper. It is never recommended to take a young puppy who isn't fully vaccinated out for walks, and I would stop that practice immediately. He will be fully vaccinated about 10 days after his third lot of vaccines. Wait until then before taking him out on walks. I hope this helps!

The rabies vaccine cannot be given until 12 to 16 weeks of age, so he is not yet old enough to receive this. The other recommended vaccines would be to continue the Distemper-Parvo combination vaccination every 3 to 4 weeks until 16 to 18 weeks of age, and depending on your dog's lifestyle we would also consider a Leptosporosis and Bordetella vaccines. I would recommend making an appointment for Sky to visit the vet and they can discuss his lifestyle plans and determine which vaccines he will require.

Thank you for using Boop by Petco and congratulations on your new puppy! Unfortunately, Maximus is not fully vaccinated at this point, so he should not be going outside. Depending on your state, he can be fully vaccinated by 12 or 16 weeks. If this was his first round of shots, he will need a booster in 2-4 weeks and then his Rabies vaccine at 12-16 weeks as well as his last booster. Maximus should have minimal contact with other dogs (even where other dogs have gone to the bathroom) as you can’t be sure they are not carrying any of the viruses that Maximus is not vaccinated for that can make him very sick. I know it is difficult to keep a large active puppy inside, but your vet can work with you to have Maximus fully vaccinated in a reasonable amount of time.

As long as your puppy stays current on his [vaccination series](https://www.petcoach.co/article/vaccination-recommendations-for-puppies-puppy-shots) (boosters every 3-4 weeks until at least 16 weeks of age), he can certainly go on walks in your neighborhood. In fact, it's very important to get him out and about at this age since the critical [socialization](https://www.petcoach.co/article/socialization-of-your-puppy) period for dogs last from 6 to 16 weeks of age - so he needs to be out seeing the world, the sooner the better. I would recommend avoiding [dog parks](https://www.petcoach.co/article/dog-parks-fun-and-games) and other busy areas where large numbers of unknown dogs have been, but it should be fine to walk him in quieter areas.

Hello, yes you can take your puppy out for walks however, you increase the likelihood that he may become sick. Because he has been vaccinated it makes it less likely, however, you should consider only allowing your puppy around other pets whom you know are fully vaccinated. We are most concerned with diseases such as Parvovirus, distemper, influenza, and kennel cough. The very real risk of putting her on the ground (public sidewalk, dog park, even petstore floor) is that she could contract a disease called parvovirus which is shed in the feces of infected dogs. If she walks over parvovirus particles (where other owners scooped up infected feces), and licks her paws, she could contract parvovirus which usually results in serve life threatening diarrhea and dehydration and requires expensive overnight care at an emergency hospital often lasting several days. Puppies are usually vaccinated against distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza virus at 8 weeks, again at 12 weeks and again at 14 weeks with the last booster at 14 + weeks of age in order for immunity to be effective for a full year. (Other vaccines include Bordatella at 8+ weeks of age, Rabies at 12+ weeks of age, lepto and Lyme at 12+ weeks of age -lepto and Lyme each need to be boosted 3-4 weeks after the initial dose to provide a year's worth of immunity and are often not given i
