Can I give my dog Loratadine for spring allergies and what's the dose?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 2 years and 4 months old | 12 lbs

Rey has some allergies now that spring is coming around, she already has some skin allergies that bother her year round (she's been on Prednisone and Benadryl a few times for allergies when her face gets puffy) so we were wondering if we could give her Loratadine 10mg tabs and what the dosage would be (she's about 12 pounds) to see if it helps her as the seasons change. She has no other issues other than allergies

In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for Rey. You will need to speak to her vet to see if it's safe to give her the Loratadine.

That dose is safe. It is not labeled for use in dogs, so I would recommend that you discuss its use in your dog with your veterinarian. However, again there is no known problem with giving your dog that dose. Thanks for asking Boop by Petco!

Unfortunately I cannot advise doing that because I can't see Soleil in person and say it's safe. It is illegal for me to do. I would speak to his vet about it, and they can advise if it's safe or not, and can tell you the drug to give along with the dose. Best of luck.

Claritin, not Claritin D can be given safely to dogs. The typical dose is 0.5mg / kg of body weight. So for example, a 20 lb dog would get 4.5mg by mouth every 24 hours. I hope this helps!
