Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 16 lbs
My 11+yo (age unknown) cat may have FIP. He suddenly became bloated; xray found a mass, blood work was normal. He's mostly sleeping, but still active (climbed stairs, wanted to go outside), He has to be encouraged to eat and has less than usual. Vet suggested euthanizing. Sought a second opinion, who extracted liquid. He has no fever or recent vomiting, but had symptoms like sneezing, watery eyes and always shedding. Is it more humane to euthanize now or seek further testing if not FIP/curable?

A specialist ultrasound may be able to determine the underlying nature of the mass but this may not help in finding any possible treatment course. If his is mobile, sociable and willing to eat enough to maintain his body condition, palliative care options are worth considering.
