My dog has bloody, slimy poop. Is it serious and what should I do?

In a young dog such as yours this can often be due to coccidia or other intestinal parasites. If she’s lethargic and there is a lot of bloody poop and she’s not eating then take her in right away since this could be a serious gastrointestinal problem. If she’s otherwise fine, eating and drinking then I recommend checking a fecal sample. If she has coccidia that needs prescription medication from your veterinarian to treat, an over the counter dewormer will not be effective.
