My puppy fell and is limping. Is baby aspirin safe for his injury?

My new puppy fell out of my arms and landed on his front right paw i can feel a bump on wrist area but he seems to limp with a walk ok i was told to give him half of a baby aspirin he is only 6 weeks old

Please do not give Oreo baby aspirin, it's not safe for puppies or dogs. It causes GI ulcers and bleeding. The only safe pain mediations for dogs are available from the vet. I would call the vet first thing in the morning to get an appointment for him to be seen. He's limping because he's in pain, and since he is so young, it's very important he's seen by a vet as soon as possible to make sure he doesn't have an injury such as a broken bone that negatively affects his growth. The only way to know for sure he hasn't broken anything is with an x-ray. Please take him into the vet tomorrow.

No, that isn't correct. It isn't safe to give dogs aspirin, even baby aspirin. It cause GI ulcers ad bleeding. If Lily can hardly walk on it, she needs to see a vet because she is in a lot of pain. Rest her tonight, and take her into a vet first thing in the morning. If you fear she is extremely painful, take her into an ER vet now. Best of luck.

Can my dog have aspirin for a possibly sprained ankle until I can take her to the vet? We iced it and she's still limping.
Poor Wednesday! Unfortunately, I am unable to prescribe any medication without examining Wednesday myself. I do not recommend giving her aspirin, as it may have some unwanted side effects in dogs such as damage to the kidneys, gastric ulcers, and bleeding issues when given in high doses. She should definitely be seen by a vet as soon as possible, especially because she is limping. Your vet can take x-rays to see where the trauma is, and perform blood work to make sure that Wednesday's organs are functioning properly to handle any pain medication, as well as place a cast or splint if necessary. You should try to keep her as calm and quiet, with as little activity as possible until she is examined by a vet. Good luck and I hope Wednesday feels better soon!

No, please do not give Milo aspirin. It causes GI ulcers and bleeding in dogs, and is not safe to give. I'd gently wash his paw with warm water, wrap the paw with a bandage, and cover it with a sock to keep it clean and dry. You can tape the sock to his leg to keep it on, but don't tape it too tightly. Put an Ecollar on him to keep him from licking at it. You can make one at home, and I will put a link below on how to do it. Change the bandage tomorrow, and if the nail is lifted, make an appointment with the vet on Monday for it to be treated. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

I have a saint Bernard and he has injured his back leg or hip what's the best thing to do for him. I have been giving him baby aspirin for pain
Do NOT give Bob baby aspirin! Aspirin causes internal bleeding and GI ulcers in dogs, and is not safe to give to him. The best thing to do is rest Bob for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a lead only, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any more human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given.

Can I give my dog a baby aspirin 4 hurting leg he's favoring his left rear leg and seems to be in some pain from it. He's whimpering a lot
I always recommend against giving baby aspirin to dogs. It makes it more difficult to give them medication if we need to switch them. If Jack hurt his rear leg I do recommend a physical examination be performed on him at a vet. Dogs can have just a simple soft tissue injury but they can also have issues with their knee cap or even an Cruciate ligament rupture (like an ACL in a football player). Going to the veterinarian they can prescribe good anti-inflammatories that would not be able to be given if you gave the aspirin. They can also dispense good pain medication to help Jack. Until you can get him to a veterinarian I recommend strict rest and only leash walks to go outside to the bathroom and then back inside. I have a 19 year old Pomeranian male. A few days ago on a walk he fell over. We brought him home rested him. Gave him a baby aspirin cut in half 81 mg.And he was fine the next few days. today his right hind leg can't walk on properly keeps falling
Oh no, poor Rusty! First off, do not give him any more baby aspirin. It's not safe to give to dogs as it can cause GI ulcers and bleeding. There could be a couple of things wrong with him at the moment. He is quite an old dog, and he could be suffering from arthritis. The pain from it could be severe enough that he can't walk properly on his right hind leg. He's also a toy breed dog, and they commonly suffer from a condition called a luxating patella. This is when the kneecap (patella) moves out of it's correct anatomical place, and if it becomes stuck outside it, then he couldn't use his leg properly. Finally, he could have torn or severely strained a ligament during his walk. Given that he can't walk properly and keeps falling over, plus the fact it's been a problem that keeps occurring, it's best that he sees a vet today. The vet can diagnose what is causing his problem with his leg and discuss treatment options with you. The vet can also give him some safe pain medicatio

He really needs to see a vet for this. This lump is over a joint and it looks swollen in the photos. It is not recommended that you give any medications as that can skew the vet's exam. He is obviously in pain if he is not moving and whining. I suggest you get him to the vet today if at all possible.

Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. When dogs are 'non-ambulatory'- not walking on a leg, this is usually a sign of significant pain. Also, swelling is concerning for either a significant injury (fracture/dislocation), an infection or abscess (pocket of pus), or in older animals we worry about cancers.
