Oh no, that is going to be incredibly painful to this poor cat! I would take her into a vet immediately, that has to be treated right away. She will need to be sedated in order to safely remove that collar and have that area cleaned and treated. If you do not want to assume financial responsibility for her, take her to your local SPCA now. Please do not delay in getting her treatment. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Well there is this stray cat, NOT feral, that I have been feeding for the past 1-2 years. I noticed she has an open wound on her neck that is maybe 4 inches long? Also, she is starting to have a problem with her eye too. I can't get a good look at it
If it is possible I would take this cat to the SPCA or a veterinarian. This wound needs to be cleaned up and the cat needs antibiotics. If you take her to a veterinarian you would have to be able to medicate her without her running away from you and to do it safely. If you would like to continue to take care of her I would also recommend a Rabies vaccination for her to have her protected especially since you will be handling her. If you brought her to the SPCA they would take her in and after her recovery they would be able to put her up for adoption. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

My cat has this one red mark under his neck. I believe he did not like the fact that he had a collar on and his nails are sharp and he clawed at his skin. Please inform me what you believe is wrong with the cat. I first noticed the mark on March 4th.
This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. My cat has a small neck sore. I’m pretty sure her collar rubbed against. We are putting medicine on it and we’re wondering if she needs to see the doctor ASAP or if we should continue to clean and put medicine on. It does not seem to hurt her nor doe
Thanks for providing the photo! It looks like the sore is quite small, and I don't see any major redness or swelling around it. If it doesn't seem to be bothering her and you don't see any other skin issues, it would be reasonable to continue using something like a topical antibiotic ointment on the affected area, and monitor for the next few days to see if it heals up on its own. If it seems to be getting larger instead of healing, or if it starts to look more red and irritated, or develops any swelling or drainage, then I would recommend having her seen by a vet as these can be signs of infection. If that happens, she may need prescription antibiotics or other meds to treat the issue effectively.

This looks pretty serious I'm afraid. I would be worried that this is a a cancer. You will need to take her to a vet for an exam. There is no way around that. This clinic in you area does $15 exams - they can tell you better what may be going on after they examine her in person. Then you can talk about your options. I believe my cat is allergic to the flea collar I put on her. I have taken it off this morning, but now she has lost all her hair around the area and appears to have lost the first layer of skin as well. She also now has open sores in that area.... H
Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to hear about Xenna. I would advise having your veterinarian evaluate her especially if the integrity of the skin is compromised. This can lead to infection and more itching and scratching which will cause more damage. Your vet can evaluate the area and advise an adequate treatment to get her through this. I would contact the manufacturer of the collar and report this adverse reaction. Hopefully, along with your veterinarian helping you, they will offer to cover any medical costs associated with you using their product. Good luck

What a beautiful cat! I can't see into the ears much but it looks like she may just have dirt or old wax debris in the ears. If she isn't scratching at them/shaking her head and they are not red/inflammed it isn't as concerning. What is very concerning is the fact that you say she has bone sticking out of the leg. If this is the case, she must see a veterinarian, as this is a dangerous situation where bacteria could enter the bloodstream through the exposed bone and cause her to become seriously ill. She needs veterinary care. If you cannot afford veterinary care for you then I would recommend finding a rescue group or shelter that can provide her with the care she needs, as it is not fair to her to leave her untreated. I hate to hear that Gabe is having a problem. I would worry about an infection possibly related to the collar but could be due to something else. Clean it off as best you can and take him into the veterinarian tomorrow. It could be an abscess which may require lancing and draining. The doctor will likely prescribe antibiotics and pain medications. Try to keep Gabe from scratching it. Try cutting a tube sock to place around the wound. Just make sure nothing is too tight. Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. Those wounds need to be cleaned properly, possibly sewn up, and it looks like Nosh needs antibiotics as well. I recommend bringing her to a vet as soon as possible, as she likely will continue to scratch and cause more damage. If you can get an E-collar on her, and if it will prevent scratching and isn't just irritating the wound itself, then you can do this as a temporary fix until you can get her to a vet.
