Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 11 months old | 7 lbs
My Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix has had to stay in her pet taxi/ kennel for up to 13 hours a night. Due to night shift-job. She hasn't had any accidents in the kennel. However after I'm home for a little while she starts having accidents in the house. She's a year and a half old and weighs 7lbs. Is it unhealthy for her to hold her urine and stool that long ?

Look how cute Tandy is! Yes, 13 hours is too long to expect her to hold her bladder, she shouldn't be expected to hold it longer than eight hours at most. I'd see if there is someone you can hire to come over to let her out once during the night, or if you can swing home to do it. I hope this helps!

It's best to try and get your pup out as much as possible, both for the chance to go potty, and to get some exercise. Most dogs can hold their urine up to 12 hours, but taking them out once before bed, and then again first thing in the morning as well as 2-3x more times during the day can help ensure they have a chance to go without holding it too long. As long as Buddy is otherwise healthy and happy, and the routine works for the both of you, it should be fine to hold his urine overnight. Signs to watch out for that may mean he needs to go more often or has a medical issue include having accidents in the house, needing to go out very often (hourly in an adult dog), having cloudy or bloody urine, excessive licking of the hind end, or pain. If you suspect there is something wrong, a vet visit is always best.

That's too long for Lily to hold her bladder, and that can cause problems like making her more susceptible to UTIs. I would hire someone to come and let her out once during the 9 hour days and twice during the 12 hour days.
