My puppy has diarrhea I was told to give him a bland diet boiled chicken and white rice and pumpkin. His stool was watery and now its soft. How long should I keep him on diet before I switch him back to his normal meals. His appetite and activity is normal. Do he have worms?

I would keep Blue on this bland for another couple of days, then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the diarrhea returns, have him seen by a vet. I can't say if he has worms or not without doing a fecal exam. Worms are common in puppies, so I would give him a deworming treatment.

He could be improving. Make sure he has small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte to drink to prevent dehydration. Resume with the bland diet in small, frequent amounts until the stool is normal. Afterwards, you can transition slowly to his regular diet. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, loss of appetite or diarrhea that doesn't resolve. Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites or bacterial overgrowth.
