Is my cat's hair loss on front legs due to stress or new flea meds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

16 year old male, indoor cat is suddenly losing hair on inside of both front legs. Appetite is good, actually eating more than usual. Gave a dose of Advantage II earlier in the month which we have never used before. Could this ber related? Is also on Laxatone, which I give 2-3 times a week.

If the skin itself is normal and there is just hairloss there, she/he most likely is licking the hair out due to anxiety/stress. I would consult with your vet about getting her on an anti-anxiety medication. You can first try some over the counter anxiety supplements before resorting to your vet, such as Zylkene or Feliwsy, but they have variable results. Best of luck with your pet moving forward and I hope you can resolve the hair loss issue soon. Take care.
