My senior dog has incontinence, weak legs, and poor senses. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My dog is 15 and has lost control of her blader, her back legs take a long time to wake up when she goes to move. Her vision and hearing deteriorated. Should i take herto a vets or possibly just give her inconstant pills. She does go for a walk but really can't go far.

I would take your dog to the vet to determine exactly what is going on. From your description, the issue with her bladder could be related to urinary incontinence, arthritis in the back end (which makes it painful to posture to urinate, so the pet just holds it until they can't anymore), or even neurologic disease that affects bladder control and the movement of the hind legs. There may be more than one issue at play here. The vet should be able to sort it out.
