Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | 11 years and 3 months old | 90 lbs
My 90 lb female pits 11 years old. She's had hip problems for awhile. Its getting worse & at times doesn't Wana get up. I use asprin (for dogs) & heat which she loves. When I scratch her hips, legs, above tail she swings her butt from side to side, kinda leans into it cause it feels good? Lately I've noticed she gets stuck like that for a few seconds. She rarely barks & didn't make a peep while giving birth but this makes her scream. Please help me.

Poor Bella! Hip problems and arthritis are often managed with a combination of NSAIDs, other pain medications, omega 3 fatty acids and joint supplements. Some pets will also benefit from massage, laser therapy and physical therapy. There is a possibility this extreme pain is not related to arthritis. Unfortunately, older, large breed dogs are more at risk to develop bone cancer which is extremely painful. Since Bella is normally so stoic, I recommend to have her examined by the vet and she may need an x-ray to look at the bones. You can also discuss adding in additional pain medications if this is arthritis related. Omega 3 fatty acids for pets and joint supplements (I recommend Dasuquin) also help to compliment therapy. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
