Grey hairless bump on my 8-month chihuahua's face: Vet or wait?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 7 months and 30 days old | 6 lbs

Recently today, I noticed a grey, hairless mole-like thing on my 8 month chihuahuas face. It’s a little hard to see because of his tear stain. It doesn’t seem to bother him, but not knowing what it is is concerning me. I tried to look it up online, but found nothing quite like what he has. Should I wait a day or so to see if it changes, or should I immediately try to get it checked out?

Hello. It is hard to see, so a hands on examination by your veterinarian is best. But I would guess this is just a benign cyst & you can watch it for a while. If it continues to grow or enlarge, or Simba seems to be digging at it, then do have your vet take a look. But I am not overly concerned about this. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
