My spayed dog won't eat or poop after surgery. Is this normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | spayed | 3 years and 1 month old | 61.8 lbs

So my female boxer was spayed on Monday not really showing Hawaiian an interest in food and she still has not had a bowel movement is this normal

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Denver. Anesthesia can slow the gastrointestinal tract down. This combined with the fact that she is not eating well likely explains why she has not had a bowel movement. I worry that she is not eating though. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian today to ensure that she is not painful or nauseous from the surgery. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs.
