My kitten's spay stitches look wet and concerning. Is it infected?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 7 months and 22 days old | 5 lbs

First pic: day our kitten was spayed. Couple days later, stitches came out, got her re-stitched yesterday (first time her wound was glued). Second pic was this afternoon. Third pic is tonight. She’s been eating & pooping like normal, and has stretched her back legs a few times, seemingly without pain. Is this just a sloppy stitch job, or is it a problem? She has a checkup tomorrow (previously scheduled free follow-up as we just got her from shelter), and we aren’t sure how to handle her wound.

Hello. The incision does look a little moist, but it is difficult to say if it is infected. Since you are going for a recheck tomorrow, I would just use a little warm water to gently dab off some of the serum & leave things alone until she is looked at tomorrow. I think it will be fine until then. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
