Why is my rabbit's one eye watery and wet, like it's crying?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 6 months old

My Dwarf rabbit seems to have a problem with his eye, around the edge is wet as if he's been crying and it seems to water a lot. Is there any reason as to why his eye is like this? Only one eye is affected.

This could be an eye infection, an ulcer on the eye or even a clogged nasolacrimal duct (a duct that runs from the corner of the eye to the end of the nose which when clogged prevent normal drainage of the eye). I would have your vet take a look at it to ensure that he doesn't need some eye drops. If an ulcer or infection is left untreated, it could become a serious problem. I hope this helps!
