Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 2 years old | 41 lbs
My dog was diagnosed with pemphigus foliaceus on Thursday she also had 106 fever. Prescribed 20mg Prednisone and 500mg Cephalexin 2xs a day each. She had diarreah this morning, vet said tsp yogurt with each meal and then she vomited 3 times since 2:30pm EST. Vet office closed. Her vomit was like green color of antibiotic. She is not lethargic. She's drinking water and hungry. Hasn't committed since 6est. I gave steroid tonight not antibiotics. Should I hold off on antibiotic till Monday ?

Hello. Cephalexin is a very common antibiotic used in pets & usually does not cause a problem, but your dog may indeed have a sensitivity to it. I am glad you held off giving the medication this evening, but I would try it again tomorrow morning about 30 minutes after she eats. If she holds it down, great but if she vomits then your veterinarian will need to prescribe another antibiotic on Monday if necessary. Continue the steroid as this is the more important medication. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
