Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 58 lbs
Hello Vets, My dog underwent oral surgery on Thursday and had some extractions done. As of Friday he has yet to have any bowel movements but he pee's. I have been putting pumkin inbhsi food. Would this be due to being under the anesthesia and fasting? Anything I can give him otc that can maybe help him get going? Thanks

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Baxter. It is very common for a dog not to have a bowel movement right after surgery. As you mentioned, the fasting and the anesthesia make this occur. Anesthesia slows down intestinal transit. As long as he is eating, drinking and acting normal, he should have a bowel movement soon. If he hasn't by Monday, be sure to let his veterinarian know. I hope this information helps!
