Why is my recently neutered cat peeing on my bed? How to stop it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 7 lbs

I have a neutered cat that keeps peeing on my bed. Hes been neutered for 9 days now. When should this behavior stop? Ive cleaned the spot. Its not his health i know for a fact, his urine was tested. He had to stay for a night for that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thx

It is not common for a urine test to be done when a cat is neutered so I think you should call your vet to check on that. I don't think you can factually say it is not his health. Not everything was tested while he was at the vet. Inappropriate urination is not common after surgery so I can't tell you why he is doing this or when it will stop. I'm guessing he is stressed. I suggest you try some Feliway diffusers, put multiple litter boxes in the house in different locations, use litter attractant in the litter and do some environmental enrichment. Also be sure you use a good product to clean up the pee spots. See all links below.
