My dog is limping on her hind leg again. What could be wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 4 years and 7 months old | 75 lbs

Hello, my dog is a Labrador retriever and has been limping on her right hind leg for the past 2-3 days. We noticed this earlier about 2 weeks ago, but it went away and now she's doing it again. She hasn't been yelping or anything like that, but continues to avoid putting weight on that left hind leg. I checked her hock, hip and knee for swelling and heat but found nothing. I was wondering about knee dislocation or something related. Any advise?

I'm wondering if Miley could have torn her cranial cruciate ligament. This can be common in large breed dogs, and it s painful. Given that she has been limping for 2-3 days, plus had a previous episode of limping, it's now time to take her into the vet to get this checked out.
