How to stop my 7-year-old Lab from chewing due to recurring fleas?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 7 years and 8 months old | 65 lbs

My 7 year old lab has chewed her butt and back and tail to blood I got her a cone and she can still get to the tail she had fleas so i gave her a flea bath and put advantage on her neck the fleas disappeared for a day or two but then came back I really don't want to put down my dog she may also have arthritis

You don't have to put a dog down simply because they have fleas. No vet would do that anyway. Give her Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes, and you can give it once a day until two weeks have passed, and then re-apply the Advantage. Fleas live in the environment, not on the dog, so if you don't disinfect the environment, it will be a continuing source of fleas. Wash Annie's bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. I'd give an exterminator a call to come and treat your home.
