Is white/yellow discharge from my dog's penis normal or serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 7 months and 28 days old | 6.4 lbs

My dog had this color after he did the bathroom and I didn't want to panic but I didn't think this was normal. I don't know if he has an infection but I cleaned him and he has some white and yellow thick liquid coming out of his penis and I want to know if it's something to worry about or should I go to a hospital?? What should I give him to make him better?

This may be smegma. It's a discharge that actually comes from the penile sheath, and is normal. If Mango is acting normally, no need to rush him into a hospital now. Keep an eye on him tonight, and if the discharge keeps happening, have him seen by a vet.

Yes, it does sound like smega. It is completely normal, and most dogs lick it away themselves. You don't need to worry about it or do anything to help him with it. It won't lead to a sheath infection, it's a normal discharge.
