Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 9 days old | 2 lbs

have a kitten, took to vets on wednesday after he lost control over his diarrhoea. Given probind 5 days, worming paste 3 days. Took to another on thursday, given poo firming med, worming paste to 5 days. 4th day, he pooped bright red blood in diarrhoea and also retched for a long time(never before). Since then, been meowing, wanting to be held & purring. Another cat, noticed both had greenish poo and began bland diet yesterday as advised on phone. Should i wait or go vets? 2nd poo - other cat

A fecal test needs to be done. General deworming only deworms for the most common intestinal parasites - not every possible parasite. Parasites that can cause bloody stool that are common in kittens are coccidia, giarida and tritrichomonas. It could also be a bacterial overgrowth like a clostridial infection. I suggest you have a fecal test done so you know what actually needs to be treated. Intestinal parasites are very common in young kittens - especially coccidia.
