My puppy has ear skin issues: hair loss, scaling, redness. Help!

I have a rescue Australian Shepherd Lab mix. He is about 10 weeks old. We have noticed he has some sort of skin issue on his ear we cannot identify.

There certainly looks to be be hairloss, scaling, and some redness. In a young dog the most common cause would be a parasite, especially if itchy. The most common would be mites, either scabies or demodex. It could also be an infection (bacteria, yeast, etc.). As some parasites can be passed to people it would be best to have your vet take a look. They will likely recommend a skin scrape and skin cytology to look for parasites or infection.
