Why is my dog tucking her leg and limping after CCL surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shorthaired Pointer | Female | spayed | 8 years and 2 months old | 55 lbs

Penny had CCL surgery on her left leg 3 months ago. I noticed when she sits her right leg is tucked under her body. She also has a slight limp..but I can't tell which leg... Why would she be sitting that way? Could her right CCL be partially torn?? I'm really worried about her...we just finished PT for her left leg and I'd hate to put her through another surgery! Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately when the CCL tears in one leg, it often tears in the other as well. This happened to my dog. She tore her left CCL, and I was trying medical management and rest first, but then the right tore and she ended up having surgery on both legs. I'd have Penny evaluated by a vet for this problem. I hope this helps.
