Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 50 lbs

6 Year old female/Spayed Husky/Shep Mix. Has been an ongoing problem for years. Used to have anal gland issues and it would wreak terribly. That does not seem to be an issue any more but she leaks a non smelling liquid randomly when laying down Urine?. She feels so guilty and I feel terrible for her and its obviously a mess. I am about to have a newborn and dont want the two to mix. Suggestions or thoughts?. Thanks so much

If the liquid is slightly yellow then yes this is likely urine. She likely has some incontinence. I would not be worried abaout infectious things though because urine is sterile in healthy pets. And as long as she is up to date on her vaccinations, in particular the Lepto vaccine, you don't have much concern for transmittable diseases. You can place a pet diaper on her for now to help keep her leakage from ruining the flooring and furniture. Then the next best step here is to get Myah's urine tested through your vet. If this is indeed incontinence, then the vet can prescribe medication to help resolve this issue. Best wishes moving forward with your pet Myah and I hope that her leakage problems resolve soon! Take care.
