Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | neutered | 36 lbs
Hi, I have a French Bulldog, whose always had problems with itchy ears. We’ve brought him to the vets numerous times about it but he gets prescribed steroids and a neck cone. Never a permanent solution. I think it might be allergies because he bites his paws too. But I can’t afford to bring him to the vet again until next week or so. I clean them with salt and water. Could you advise me as to how I should deal with him until I can go to the vet and what questions I should ask, as it reoccurs.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Hugo. I agree that his ears appears infected as the canal opening look swollen and the tissues are thickened. I recommend cleaning the ears daily with an ear cleaner for dogs. The salt you are using can irritate the already inflamed tissues. Then I would discuss the possibility of allergies with his veterinarian. Food allergies and those to something in the environment are most common. He may benefit from a prescription diet or skin testing to determine if he has environmental allergies. I hope this information helps!
