Why is my cat dry coughing like a hairball and lost his meow?

Hi my twin cats have a dry cough, very similar to the sound of a cat trying to cough a hair ball up. The male symptoms cough here & there 1 week ago and now the girl cat is coughing just today. Male cat lost his meow few days ago, it’s back almost normal. No other symptoms, drinking and eating normal and active. Please help. Regards, P.
