Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | spayed | 17 years old | 6 lbs
Hi, My dog Maggie is a 17 year old Miniature Pomeranian, she is mostly blind, mostly deaf & she is disabled (Back hip & front legs problems, from previous pet owner abuse). 2 questions, Maggie has bee losing a lot of weight this past year & doesn't eat her food all the time, what could I feed her to make sure she is getting what she needs? Maggie has been sick & lethargic, when is it time to put her to sleep? What signs do you look for. I don't want to, but, I don't want want her to suffer.

Maggie could be losing weight and not eating well due to many conditions that commonly affect older dogs like kidney disease. I recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian and check some bloodwork and a urinalysis. This will also give you a much better idea on if the time to put her down is getting close. Certainly the decision and knowing when is the right time is difficult and not to be taken lightly. Here is a link with helpful information, questions to ask yourself and things to look for to help guide you in the decision process: https://www.petcoach.co/article/the-decision-of-euthanizing-your-pet/ I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
