My dog has a neck wound. What can I do at home before the vet?

Can I treat this wound before we get in to see a vet? The attached pictures are from the back of the dogs neck. Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 12 years and 1 month old

Yes, you can. The area must be clipped and disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths (twice daily). Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any).
