My dog has a brown dotted rash on his belly. What could it be?

My dog has started developing some kind of rash on his belly, near one of his nipples. It’s kind of brownish and looks like little dots. Definitely isn’t bugs or dirt, I rubbed gently with water to see if it would come off. I just noticed one or two very small dots about a week ago that I didn’t think much of, but now, I just noticed that there are more and a bigger one. I have also noticed that he’s been scratching and licking a bit. Any thoughts on what it could be? Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This looks like a focal infection. You can try to use chlorhexidine containing pads (such as the Douxo chlorhexidine 3% PS pads) to clean the are twice daily for 7 days. You may find these online or at your local pet store. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good day!
