My 6-week puppy still has diarrhea after deworming. Is she okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 16 days old | 4.1 lbs

My 6 week old puppy keeps switching between solid poop and then this more watery soft stuff. I took her to the vet 2 days ago to be dewormed, and since then she has perked up a lot but she still has on and off diarrhea. She seems to be a little picky with her food, we feed a mix up of pedigree puppy kibble, wet canned food, and chicken and rice baby food. We noticed last night that the water jug we were giving her water from smelt funny, so we bought a new jug for her. Is she ok?

I see you have ID food. I would recommend feeding that and talking with your veterinarian. I would let them check a stool sample if that wasn't performed. Bland diet (ID) nothing else, no treats or human food and then deworm her in 2 weeks again if the stool doesn't show anything. If there is blood in it or she starts vomiting I would have them check her for Parvo. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
