My dog is licking his irritated paw between toes. Vet or home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 years and 4 months old | 62 lbs

Our dog Banner has irritation between his toes on one paw. He has been licking at it for a day or two now and we finally noticed it. Is there something we can apply at home or do we need to visit our vet? There isn't any irritation on the pads or anywhere else.

Thank you for contacting PetCoach with your question about Banner. This is something you should take him into the vet for, as without seeing him in person, I can't diagnose what is causing this issue or what treatment is needed. I would take him into a vet on Monday. To keep him from licking it further, put an Ecollar on him. You can buy one at a pet store or make one at home.
